Patrick McLaughlin, Sales Consultant


Patrick McLaughlin, 34, was born and raised in Los Alamos, New Mexico. He is the second of five children and graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1987 and was an All-American swimmer. He attended and swam on scholarship for New Mexico State University for two years, setting many records and earning many awards. When NMSU announced they were dropping their men's swim team, Patrick transferred to the University of Kansas in 1989. At KU, Patrick continued swimming on scholarship and qualified for Senior Nationals, just missing the 1992 Olympic Trials in three events. Patrick graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts in Interpersonal Communications with an emphasis in Psychology and Percussion.
Just prior to graduating from KU, Patrick began marketing Cutco Cutlery (for Vector Marketing Corporation) and quickly became a National Top 25 Sales Rep for the company and earned the Presidential Award for sales. After graguating from KU, Patrick moved to Omaha, Nebraska, and quickly became the Office, Branch, and District Manager for Vector.
After almost three years with Vector, Patrick decided to return to the water full-time and achieved his goal of qualifying for the 1996 Summer Olympic Trials in the 100m Butterfly. After his swimming comeback, Patrick returned to Los Alamos to coach his former club and high school swim teams, as well as the master's swim team. After a successful year Patrick decided to move abroad.
In the Fall of 1997, Patrick moved to Turku, Finland, and taught English for three years to students and adults of all ages. In the Summer of 2000, Patrick returned to Kansas City and joined the KC Dolphins swim team as a Head Coach/Owner and quickly tripled the team membership, making it the fastest growing swim team in Kansas City.
Patrick is self-employed as a free-lance salesman, single, and enjoys traveling, languages, reading, and playing the drums.
